I Love to Fish

David's family had their annual camp out trip to Tibble Fork. We were unable to camp with the family, but we went up for some fishin and 4-wheelin. Makenna had never fished before and her Daddy helped her. She caught two fish right of the bat. She kept saying I found them I found them. It was really cute. She had such a good time.

David's Birthday Weekend

We have had a great weekend. This is the first birthday that David has been home in 3 years. We went all out. It started on Friday. Jessica made David's favorite b-day cake, we went with the older children to lunch, then shopping and a visit with some old friends. Saturday we went to dim sum with the older girls who where leaving for California and wouldn't be there for their Dad's b-day. Yummy. My in-laws then watched Makenna so we could have a night to ourselves. We rented a room at the Plaza across the street from Temple Square. They talked us into the "Honeymoon Suite" because we were also celebrating a late 5th anniversary and David's birthday. They gave us a great deal and said there was a nice gift basket to go with it. Watch closely in the montage and try not to be jealous of how nice it really was. We settled in and then went to The Melting Pot for dinner. It was the best. After dinner we went back and enjoyed the view from our room and being kid less for awhile. In the morning we went over to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for our church meetings. We were miss informed about the times so we just enjoyed the atmosphere. We really enjoyed the time we had together and can't wait for our next adventure. I love having David home all the time. It was a great extravaganza weekend.

Aunt Jeweece (Janiece)

Makenna got to have a full spa treatment for free today. Aunt Janiece had a break from her Conference in Park City and popped in. Janiece was doing her nails at the table which is a very common thing because all the older girls do their nails at Grandma's house. Grandma has a basket full of nail care products that she keeps in the sewing room. Anyways to continue the tale Janiece asked Makenna if she want her nails painted and she said YES. Then Makenna actually let Janiece do it. In addition, she let Janiece fix her hair. All of this at no charge to me. A nail treatment, a new do, and an afternoon with Aunt Janiece. Priceless.

Licenses to Drive

David and I went to get our Utah drivers licenses yesterday. I hate taking the written test. I am always afraid that I am going to fail. When I was 17 and took the written test I failed 3 times. The only reason why I passed the 4th time was because there were only 3 test so I memorize them all and that is how I passed the 4th time. When we moved to Minnesota I had just renew my Utah license and didn't want to pay the fee to change it especially because we didn't know how long we were going to be there. In Wisconsin all you have to do is give them your current license and they give you a new one. I dreaded coming back here because I new I was going to have to take the written test again in addition, everytime we go to get things switched over we forget some kind of paperwork and have to go back again. The lines here in Utah are crazy. We got up especially early to beat the crowds. I knew I was on top of thing. I just wanted to pass the darn test. Well the morning came and I couldn't find the title to the truck. We looked everywhere. I know that you don't need that to take the test but, we wanted to get the truck registered at the same time because my mother-in-law was watching Makenna. Anyways we got out of here late. Went to the first place and the line was out the door. I was not happy. Then we found another place we could go. The lines were not bad at all. I was worried that David wasn't going to have enough ID and guess what it was me instead. We had to drive all the way back home. I was not happy at all. We got back and luckily the lines were not bad at all. They gave us each a number and we waited and waited. They agreed to do our paperwork at the same time because I wanted to pay with one check. They did David's first. He almost did pass the vision test. Then it was my turn. The guy started the paperwork and then told me that I didn't have to take the test because I still had a valid Utah license. I could have kissed the guy. I was so excited. They took my picture and I was done. I had to sit and wait for David to be done. He was wondering what was going on the whole time. In addition, my license was cheaper than his. So I had to write another check because the guy gave me the wrong amount the first time. It was great. I worried for nothing. That is what I get for being a recreational worrier.

A New Nephew

I got a phone call at midnight this morning (July 10). I thought it was David telling me he was on his way home. Instead it was my brother Daniel. You don't get much good news at 12:00 a.m., but this was the best kind of news. Sara had had the baby. Sooo Daniel broke the news that I was wrong and that the baby wasn't a girl but a boy. I am so excited. Daniel and Sara hadn't found out the sex of the baby so we all had to wait until B-Day. It was really exciting to hear how happy they all were and that everything was alright. We got an email with some pictures in the afternoon and a name for the new little guy. His name is Cayson L. Burcham and I am in love. He is a keeper. What a blessing to have this new little man in our lives. I can't wait to see him. They will be here in 3 weeks for the blessing. Daniel and Sara our going to be great parents. It will be fun watch all of them grow.

Happy Birthday Jami

Makenna loves her Aunt Jami. We called to wish her a Happy Birthday today. Makenna got on the phone and started singing her own version of the song. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Day Aunt Jami, Happy Birthday to you , Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday 27, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you. The funny thing is Jami isn't 27. She looks like she could be though. Makenna likes to make stuff up. I wish I would of gotten that on tape. Jami and I were laughing so hard. It was the cutest thing. I love that she is so creative with her words. Anyways, we all love our Aunt Jami and glad that she was placed in our lives. We want her to know how grateful we are for her and all she does for us. We don't care how all she is. Besides she is like a fine wine (or should we say grape juice) she gets better with age. We love ya.

A Little Late

I know that the 4th of July was a few days ago, but I forgot to tell everyone what Makenna said when the fireworks went off. She said, " Holy Cow Dad, Holy Cow". She loved them we had to teach her what they were really called because she calls them "Smoke". I am not sure where she comes up with all these different names but it is sure funny.

The Date

David and I got to go on a date. It was wonderful. We left Makenna with Gram and Gramp she is calling them that (at least for this week) She comes up with a new name for them every week it seems. We went over to the Cheesecake Factory for you guess it cheesecake. It was quite yummy. The atmosphere was a little to hectic for us though. We decided to go down to Temple Square to see what was going on. I hadn't been down there is a good 3 years. There are a lot of changes and a lot of big holes in the ground downtown. We had fun walking around the beautiful grounds making fun of the young couples there on dates and making googly eyes at each other. Mind you David and I use to do that when we were first dating. (first kiss, first official date, and engaged there). It was fun to think back about those times and remember what great times they were. We can't wait to take Makenna down there to smell all those flowers. She loves to smell the real ones and the fake ones. It was a great night and I am glad I got to spend it with my Sweetheart.

My Makenna

Makenna got a new wadding pool.
She loves to play in the water.
She also loves to dip the end of her ponytail in the water.
I am so grateful to have her in my life. Sometimes I wonder how I could have been so blessed with such a sweet spirit. We have been doing a lot the past couple of days. We have had two play dates. One with Nancy, Andrew and Josh and another with Leslie and Danielle. Makenna had great fun and so did I. Nancy introduce me to a blog that she had been read about a young mother who had recently lost a child. The blog is incredible and anyone who would like to have the link just let me know and I will pass it on. She encourages everyone to write the little things about there children no matter how small they seem. Here are a few things that I love about Makenna. I love to watch her run, to hear her sing, to tell me I love you, to play Webkinz and see the excitement in her face when she gets to Harvest, when she ask can I sits on your lap, the funny little sayings she comes up with, her beautiful eyes, hair, and smile, when we are at church and she wants to give me a hug a bug and goes to the end of the hallway and run with her arms wide open and all the love she has for me written all over her face, and especially when she comes up to you and grabs your face and gives you a big wet kiss. These are just a few things that I wanted to share with anyone who may read this. I love my little Kenna Boo.
